Sustainability Policy
  • Green Tourism

We are proud to have been awarded the silver Green Tourism Award. This recognition highlights our efforts to reduce our environmental impact through energy efficiency, waste reduction, and sustainable sourcing. For our guests, it means enjoying the same warm hospitality while knowing their stay supports greener choices.

  • Mission Net Zero

Proud to be working with Mission: Net Zero on our path to a more sustainable future. They’re helping us reduce our environmental footprint and achieve Green Tourism certification—an internationally respected eco-label. With their guidance, we’re shaping our Green Journey to make our operations greener and give back to the communities we’re part of.

  • Social Sustainability

DoubleTree by Hilton Edinburgh City Centre is committed to social sustainability by supporting our team, offering fair wages, and investing in learning and development. Guided by our CSR principles, we strive to be good neighbours locally and globally. We’re proud to partner with Soul Foods to give back and help strengthen our community.

  • Environmental Sustainability

Sustainability guides everything we do. Following Hilton’s Travel with Purpose programme, we set annual targets to reduce energy, water, waste, and carbon, with 2025 LightStay goals in place.

Our recycling, waste reduction, and food waste initiatives minimise landfill, while single-use plastics are actively reduced.

  • Ecomonic Sustainability

We source responsibly, adhering to the Axiom Supplier Ethical Purchasing Policy, screening suppliers’ sustainability practices, and prioritising ethical products like Belu mineral water, fair-trade and organic F&B, eco-conscious laundry, and FSC-certified printing.

  • Meet With Purpose

We are proud to support the Scottish charity Trees for Life in their forest restoration efforts across the Highlands. For every 2 delegates attending on of our Green Daily Delegate Rate meetings we plant 1 tree in our grove.

  • Charity Partnerships

Our Hilton Care Committee brings staff together to support local charities and community initiatives, turning their passion and creativity into meaningful action. We are incredibly proud of our team’s dedication—whether organising fundraising events, volunteering time, or collecting gifts, their efforts make a real difference in our community.

This year, our staff are leading the way in partnering with Cash for Kids Mission Christmas, collecting presents to bring joy to local children.

  • Future Plans

In 2026, we will also launch a new collaboration with Knights Beekeeping, who will manage off‑site apiaries on our behalf. Their expert team will nurture pollinator populations, contribute to habitat diversity and supply honey for our guests.
